HISTORIC CHURCHES RIDE AND STRIDE
The annual Ride and Stride to raise money for the repair and maintenance of historic churches and chapels will be taking place. The idea is that sponsored cyclists and walkers visit as many participating churches as they are able within the day. It is a very sociable occasion as the churches you visit offer refreshments and the opportunity to see the church and have a chat. As a walker, you can choose interesting footpaths between the churches and enjoy the scenery around Winchester.
The money each person raises is donated to the Hampshire and The Islands Historic Churches Trust, half of which is returned to the church or chapel of choice. I know that some of our cyclists have already proved themselves this year with cycling the South Downs Way. This is a much more gentle activity (unless you want to cover the whole Deanery) and for all ages! If you would like to participate in any way please come to me for forms.
If you cannot cycle or ride on the day, please help by sponsoring one of the participants. The sponsor form is set out "per church" but allows for pledging a fixed sum and reclaiming tax through gift aid.
